Can someone say "Sea Sick"?

Okay, so I have to tell you a lovely story of what happened to me this weekend. I was invited to Marina, Ca to stay the weekend at a very nice timeshare with deaf friend Ashley and her family to celebrate her graduation. We left Sacramento Friday night around 10:30pm. I thought driving late would be nice because I don't like to drive in traffic. Well when it came time change freeways from the 680 to the 101s, the freeway was blocked and so we had to take a detour! We ended up being stuck in traffic at 12 midnight. We were driving what seemed like hours!!! ha! And oh! Just a little side note, when you travel make sure you travel with fun people because an unexpected change in your trip could otherwise turn into a disater! Thanks God the people I was with are super duper fun so the slight detour did not damper our spirits. =) we talked and had a good time the whole way. Anyway, we arrived at the time share around 1:30ish, almost 2am. Whew! I was sooooo tired I couldn't see straight! We were all exhasted so we ate and fell asleep right away because we wanted to get an early start the next day!

On Saturday morning, we woke up around 7:30am and headed for the Aquarium in Monterey, Ca. I've been there once when I was a kid, but I could barely remember the details of it, however I do remember thinking it was something spectacular... comes to find out it wasn't,Hehehehe. The aquarium is definitely a place I would take my young children to, but it's not as entertaining as an adult, but I did enjoy myself. I took pictures and had a great time with the family! I will post the pictures as soon and my usb cord for my Nikon D40 comes in the mail =). Saturday afternoon we were scheduled to go Whale watching, but we received news that the waters were rough. We ended up rescheduling the trip for Sunday morning thinking the water would be calm by then...lol...ummmm, nope! After boarding the boat on Sunday morning and driving out 300+ feet from the shore I started feeling a little woozy. I knew right then someone had better get me off the boat otherwise it was not going to be pretty! Well I was right! An hour into the trip I found myself leaning over the boat empyting my tummy! LOL. The side of the boat was my friend! I kid you not I was running back and forth to the side of the boat like 5 times. LOL. A lady brought me water and the guy who worked on the boat (his name is Alex and very cute by the way) kept bringing me paper towels! I was so miserable I didn't care about the whales and was constantly asking myself why the captain brought us out here to the middle of nowhere?? My friend got sick too and stated she would never go whale watching again, not even in her dreams! Ha! I agree, never again... I did fall asleep on the boat eventually, but woke up feeling better! Thank God. What an experience! That was the longest 3 hours of my life! It's crazy because according to the Marine Biologist on the boat we saw 36 whales but I barely got any pictures because at that point I didn't even care. Whales are beautiful creatures, but i'll be ok if I never see another whale in my life! =).

The trip overall was a great one! I spent it with a great family and I was able to practice sign language since my friend and her best friend since they are both deaf. I ate great Indian food too! Yum!!! We went to the beach, went swimming and just enjoyed each others company. I love the fact that I wasn't preoccupied with a computer or my phone. It was nice to take a break from all the technology for a minute and focus on other means of entertainment, like having a good conversation, going to the beach, going swimming in the pool, taking a walk, and even going to Walmart! =)

Okay, so I will post pics from my camera soon, but in the meantime I will put a few pics on FB that I took with my phone. God bless and Enjoy! =)

Ashley's Graduation

Hello there!!! =))) Okay so yesterday was a very, very busy but rewarding day!!! My friend Ashley, who is deaf, graduated high school yesterday! I am so proud of her!! She is an amazing girl and I lover her dearly. I first met her a few years back at church and had the opportunity to interpret for her during our services. Her family has welcomed me into their family and for that I am grateful. I felt like a proud big sister watching Ashley walk across that stage. During the ceremony, deaf interpreters were off to the right of the stage interpreting the ceremony for Ashley. I learned a few new words by watching them. I learned 'congratulations' 'prove' and another way to sign 'future', hehehehehe. After the graduation ceremony Aisha, "Joey"(Ashley's cousin) and myself drove Ashley to take pictures and to distract her from her surprise party that was taking place at the Golden Coral. We had a great time being silly and posing and just being girls, but it was super hot!!! hehehe, I say almost 100 yesterday?? I don't know, but I was burning up! =) Sacramento has finally welcomed Spring/Summer. Afterwards I drove her to the Golden Coral and boy was she surprised seeing everyone who attended. The party consisted of family, family friends, teachers, and interpreters. After eating, speeches were made, lots of hugs and congratulations took place and more pictures were taken. Aisha and I ended up doing a hands of praise song called "He made the Difference" and it was a blast! Being at the dinner, I was able to meet Ashley's interpreters who've helped her along the way to get her to where she is today. The deaf community is amazing and I am inspired to be apart of it! =)) I'm at work now, so I guess i better start working, hehehehe. Well I just want to say Congratulations Ashley!! I can't wait to see what God has in store for you!!! Love you girl!

Happy New Year!!

Okay, I know I'm like 2 years behind on blogging but I am glad to be back! A lot has happened since I last blogged. A friend of mine who is posted in the wedding pic (the bride) on the side of my page passed away suddenly last summer and we found out that my dad had cancer. This all happened around the same time... boy, oh boy! The last year and a half has been heavy for me but thanks be to God! Today has been a trying day as well but like Kirk Franklin's song says, "Still I smile!" =) I won't be typing a lot tonight because I have study for my psyc test tomorrow that I'm ill prepared for, so please pray that God will have mercy on me! lol. Hehehe, but seriously the moral of today's blog is thank God for pastors. They will set you straight and keep you focused when you get off balanced! hehehe. That's all Im going to say. HOLLA! =)

I'm Here!

HeeHeeHee...okay I don't know what happened since my last entry, but boy have I been busy! I am supposed to tell everything that has happened since November, but not only am I not going back that far, but I can't even remember that far! ...But no, God has been good and I am thankful for His mercy and grace.
This Sunday is Easter and I have a few things planned, but nothing too major. I'm just trying to get through this semester at school, which has been a drag. With working full time and going to school full time and with my church duties, I am pooped! =) I need prayer! Anyway, regardless of all that, I have been focusing on a scripture that has been helping me through. You know it's amazing how God will direct you to a scripture to study and the next thing you know a pastor will preach on it or mention it in one way or another. To me, that is confirmation that I am on the right track and that God is leading and guiding me. The scripture I have been studying is Galatians 6:9 which says, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not" (kjv). The amplified version states, "And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint"(amp). I love it! Living for Christ has been the best thing that has happened for me. It's not always easy, but I know there is a book that I can go to that will guide me and edify my spirit. And I know there is a God who can and will supply all of my needs. I also undertstand that I serve a God who desires to hear from me in my times of distress. What I'm noticing is that when I decided to make plans for my life, things never turn out right and there are a lot of frustrations, but when I give my plans over to God, my life flows so much smoother and I have less stress. It's important to ask God for His will to be done in our life and not our will. We see that in Matthew 26:36-39, when Jesus went to pray in a place called Gethsemane. He knew His crucifixtion was near, but he asked if it was possible that he would not have to go through with it, BUT he said nevertheless not what I will (or desire), but as You will desire (paraphrase amp). We have to give our wants, needs, and desires to Jesus. He knows what we are going through because He's been there! He's been tempted before (Luke 4:2)! He understands us so deeply and wishes we would seek His face. I know that even in the midst of my trials, I want God's will to be done in my life. =)

The Wedding

Hello!
I was in a wedding about a week ago and it was so much fun! This was actually my first wedding I've been in. It was nerve racking at first because I wanted everything to be perfect. It's funny cause I think I was more stressed out than the bride. Haha! It turned out really nice though. But what made me nervous was a month before the wedding i found out the my dress size and the tag on the dress were two different numbers! Yikes. I called DB and they rush ordered another dress for me. Well being the procrastinator that I am, I decided to pick up my dress the day before the wedding (because at that point I knew I didn't need alterations). Well when I got my dress and took it home, the dress was way too long even with the heels I had on! SO, I ended up getting new shoes the next day and it had a higher heel so the dress didn't drag on the ground. hahaha During the reception we had fun. We gave a toast and I said a few words. I wanted to say more than what I said, but I was really nervous. =) Anyway, I'm happy for the bride and groom and I pray they keep God first in their marriage! =)
